Cannot sign in to Exness? Start with which password
An Exness client has up to three different secrets: the Personal Area password, a trading password for each MetaTrader account, and an optional PIN in the Exness Trade app. Many “wrong password” errors happen because one of them is used in the place of another.
In short
- Sign in only on the official Exness page or in the official app — never through a link from a chat.
- Codes go to the phone number and email in the profile; an old number needs Exness Support.
- Nobody genuine asks for a password or a code. Not Exness Support, not Partner Support.
Which password goes where
| Where | What it needs |
|---|---|
| Exness Personal Area (website) | Registration email and the Personal Area password |
| Exness Trade app | The same email and Personal Area password; after that the app can ask for its own PIN or fingerprint |
| Exness Terminal | Opened from the Personal Area — no separate login |
| MetaTrader 5 / 4 | The trading account number, that account's trading password and the server shown for the account in the Personal Area |
A forgotten trading password can be changed for the trading account in the Personal Area; it does not change the Personal Area password, and the other way round.
Resetting the Personal Area password
- Open the official Exness sign-in page.
- Choose “Forgot password” and enter the registration email.
- Follow the email from Exness and set a new password.
- If the email does not arrive, check the spam folder and that the address is the one used at registration.
If the app keeps logging out, update it from the official store and sign in again.
Codes that do not arrive
- Check that the phone number or email in the profile is current. If the number has changed and the old SIM is gone, only Exness Support can update it.
- Wait a minute before requesting a new code; several requests in a row can block sending for a while.
- Check signal, the spam folder and SMS filters for unknown senders.
- On a phone, read the code from the notification without closing the app — leaving the screen can restart the step.
- Still nothing: write to Exness Support from the live chat in the Personal Area or, if signed out, from the help options on the official sign-in page.
Positions are open and sign-in fails
Open positions keep running whether or not anyone is signed in. If the Personal Area is not available but MetaTrader 5 works, the positions can be managed there with the trading account number and trading password. If neither works, contact Exness Support at once and say that positions are open.
If the account looks hacked
- Change the Personal Area password and the trading passwords at once.
- Turn on the strongest sign-in protection the Personal Area offers.
- Tell Exness Support what happened: unknown trades, withdrawals or a changed email or phone.
- Change the password of the email account too — it is the key to resetting everything else.
Never share passwords or codes. Most account takeovers start with someone asking for a code “to verify” or “to help”.
